Introducing Heidi: A Multifaceted Legal Expert in South Africa and the UK

Meet Heidi, a dual-qualified attorney practicing in South Africa and a non-practicing solicitor in England and Wales. With an LLB (cum laude) from the University of Johannesburg, Heidi's legal acumen is evident. Heidi’s SAMTRAC qualification (cum laude) to her right of appearance in the High Court, are a testament to her comprehensive legal capabilities.

Heidi’s legal career took off with articles at a renowned and specialized corporate commercial law firm in Houghton, South Africa. Expanding her horizons, Heidi then practiced as a corporate-finance solicitor in London, at a prestigious Scottish law firm. Her work there included advising on high-level corporate and commercial transactions, notably the largest IPO fundraising on London's AIM market in 2007. This international experience underscores her adaptability and wide-ranging expertise.

Returning to South Africa, Heidi served as in-house legal counsel in the construction and engineering sector. In this role, she managed all legal, risk, commercial and contractual aspects of business operations, showcasing her multifaceted legal skills. Her experience covers various sectors, including contract drafting, negotiation and review, right through to dispute resolution and civil litigation.

Heidi's journey led her to co-found a law firm in Melrose Arch, heading the Corporate Commercial Department, and later, to establish Barter McKellar. Her specialties in construction law, commercial law, corporate law, commercial litigation, environmental law, gaming law, health and safety law, labour and employment law, mining law and property law reflect her diverse legal prowess.

Renowned for her sharp commercial drafting skills and astute business acumen, Heidi excels in delivering legal services that are not only legally sound, but also align with business objectives. Heidi stands as a distinguished figure in the legal community.
